Beyond the Microchip

If you’ve ever returned home and discovered your pet missing, you know how traumatizing it can be. Panic quickly sets in, followed by fear and “what if’s…”

Your first line of defense is a microchip and I highly recommend one. You also must REGISTER and UPDATE your microchip to ensure all the contact information is up to date and correct!

In addition to a microchip, I’ve found a few other products that can be extremely helpful IF your dog escapes your home!

1- A personalized collar! You can order them online and they’re pretty inexpensive! Put your pet’s first name, your last name and a phone number. This way, if their tag falls off, any good Samaritan who finds Fido can still contact you!

2- The FreezeTag Pet Tag Silencer! This sturdy piece of plastic is amazing! It replaces those flimsy, silver tag rings that often break or manage to fall off. The FreezeTag holds up to 4 tags and locks them into place. It also keeps your tags from making that annoying “jingle jangle” they do every time your pet moves!!!

3- A QR Code Tag! These tags can be activated and added to your pets existing collar. If your pet goes missing and is found by someone on the street, they can use their smart phone to scan the code and find all the information you input into your animals profile! This means they can find your name, address, phone number (or whatever you input) in seconds! Basically, it’s a microchip everyone can read!

4-GPS Pet Tracker! These are exactly what their name implies! They attach to your pets collars and allow you to see exactly where they are! Their are different kinds on the market, so always do your research and find which one will work best for your dog!
